Ajmal Akram was educated locally and has lived in Wembley for all his life. He understands the dilemmas faced by working parents and the barriers faced by residents on a daily basis.<\/p>

He will work to support Wembley\u2019s young people to give them the best start in life and ensure that the most vulnerable residents are protected. Ajmal will work to make Wembley Hill a safer place to live, collaborating with local residents and residents\u2019 groups to understand their concerns.<\/p>

Ajmal\u2019s priorities will be to support residents with housing, parking and their health and wellbeing. Ishma has lived in Brent with her family for over a decade now. Her professional background is in Early Years Support, helping to run a nursery in Brent. Ishma\u2019s role in Early Years has enabled her to become active and provide frontline support to Brent\u2019s diverse communities.<\/p>

Ishma wants to be the voice that is heard, trusted and acknowledged. Ishma will work to tackle poverty, housing issues, employment prospects and anti-social behaviour.<\/p>

Brent is Ishma\u2019s home and if elected, she will be an advocate for the residents of Wembley Hill, working to make the ward stronger and more resilient for today and tomorrow.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Brought up by a single parent, on free school meals, in social housing, on minimum wage, zero-hour contract jobs, Brent has given so much to Ihtesham. And with so many people hurting, so many struggling, after a decade worth of austerity, he feels it is his duty, to give back. A former youth worker, and community activist, he was grateful to be elected as a councillor in 2018, to represent and help as many people as possible. With poverty and inequality exacerbated by this pandemic and the government’s indifference and mishandling of it, Ihtesham set up and has been running Preston Mutual Aid to ensure those in need in the area were continually getting the help and support they needed. As vice-chair of the Labour Group, co-chair of Brent Youth Parliament, and member of the Community and Wellbeing Scrutiny committee, he is on the frontline, steering council policy and implementing Labour values of justice, equality across the board. With his key focuses on alleviating poverty, community cohesion and providing a better tomorrow for our young people, Ihtesham will go above and beyond to achieve real results for Brent.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
